A Day in the life of Asst. Manager, Business, Mankiran Kaur
We caught up with Mankiran Kaur as part of our ‘Day in the Life’ column to find out what life at Isobar is like and what her job entails.
Please describe your job: What do you do?
I have been working at Isobar for more than a year now. My role spans from being an active point of contact for the client and managing the internal team with respect to the deliverables.
I make it a point to not only align deliverables and deliver on time but also take part in all brainstorming sessions actively and help the team in giving direction so that the output is as per the client’s requirement. This also plays a major role in reducing the chances of any miss communications amongst the teams.
What kind of skills do you need to be effective in your role?
Pro-activeness and the art of maintaining a good rapport are two very important skills that have always helped me play my job role very effectively. With experience, I have also learned the power of collaboration and how it helps in adding exponential value to the client.
Tell us about a typical working day…
A typical day starts with back to back early morning calls from the client basis which I prepare a daily job list which helps in keeping the teams as well as the timelines aligned. Most of the time, the job list building keeps happening throughout the day as the ad-hoc requests are never too less.
At such times, communicating with the client at all times and understanding the priority of each task becomes very important.
Never-ending calls, briefings, team discussions and meetings with the client usually grab a major pie of my day.
What do you love about your job?
The art of handling people and managing expectations is something that I really love about my job. There is not a single day when there is no chaos, there is a new challenge every single day. This helps me improve my learning curve on a day to day basis.
How did you end up at Isobar, and where might you go from here?
Isobar comes with its own set of expertise when it comes to executing impactful campaigns especially the ones that are driven by innovation and technology. This made me curious and I applied for the job role.
Do you have any advice for marketers starting a career in an agency setup?
There is no doubt that there is immense learning on the job but what one should never forget is to take that extra effort to keep up with the new skills that are coming up. Building an edge over others right from the start of the career will get you a long way in your career. Never stop learning 😊
