Please describe your job: What do you do?

I am a Senior Manager (Social Media) at Isobar India. The job entails building social strategy for brands and everything that comes with the social bouquet — content, social media campaigns and ideas, ORM, influencers et al.

· What kind of skills do you need to be effective in your role?

Passion, determination, ownership of whatever you do, and multi-tasking are the skills you would need to get the job done, effectively and efficiently!

· Tell us about a typical working day…

Even though I’m not a morning person, still I get up early as my journey to my workplace is about 40kms. That’s the only time I would call as my “me” time and I spend it by listening to music and/or thinking of some new ideas and/or trying to find perspective on things, in general. Once I reach at work, I prepare a checklist of ‘things to do’ and aim to complete it by the end of the day. During the day, I try to hurdle up with other team members to catch up on the latest trends in social, digital or on the technological front.
And, I get a special kick when all the pointers are ticked off the checklist by the end of the day.

· What do you love about your job?

We strive hard every day and benchmark our own work, even when the deadlines are always yesterday. Coordinating with other team members, clients, and vendors might get too tough. Even after numerous discussions, disagreements and even arguments with the clients, we still share a strong bond with them. All these elements when put together might replicate the ambiance and vibe of “Wall Street” and that’s something I love about my job.

· How did you end up at Isobar, and where might you go from here?

Isobar is famous for using new technological advancements in their campaigns which made me curious to explore the opportunity. So far, the journey has been smooth and the people I’ve met here are awesome too. In the future, I would love to collaborate with Droga5, if given an opportunity!

· Do you have any advice for marketers starting a career in an agency setup?

As William Blake quoted — “The true method of knowledge is an experiment.”
So, don’t shy away from trying and strive hard to outshine yourself at whatever you do. Be demotional; emotional and detached. Be emotional towards the work you do, but also, don’t cling on to the ideas or the clients, rather move to something new and try to explore that domain.
